This is gearing up to be an amazing year.
We are excited to unveil our new website and celebrate the completion of our long-planned merger with LAW Fund. Unifying the two organizations will open up a wealth of new opportunities to deepen our resources and more effectively support equal justice work across Washington.
Be sure to register for this year’s Goldmark Luncheon on February 26th! This year, we are honoring the contributions of three leaders in civil legal aid community: J. David Andrews, Hon. Donald J. Horowitz and Mark A. Hutchinson. All proceeds go to our annual fundraising drive, the Campaign for Equal Justice. We can’t wait to see you there.
We’re also thrilled to introduce the Civil Legal Needs Study Update (.pdf), released in late 2015. Finally we have an up-to-date study of the current civil legal needs in Washington—and the findings are staggering. More than ever, low-income individuals and families are finding themselves burdened with serious and complex legal problems. In fact, the number of legal problems per household has nearly tripled since 2003. There is a lot of work to do, and this study will help us to focus resources and energy where it is needed most.
