LFW serves as a resource for legal aid organizations across the state to fulfill their missions of ensuring justice for all.
We convene providers to pursue collective funding opportunities, such as Special Grants. We lead the collaborative fundraising Campaign for Equal Justice. We also build grassroots support for public funding for legal aid via the Equal Justice Coalition.
LFW supports training for legal aid advocates, supporting the biannual Washington State Access to Justice Conference, JustLead Washington and events surrounding the annual Goldmark Luncheon. We also organize full-day orientation sessions for new pro bono program directors.
LFW provides a range of technical help to grantees. For example, LFW is committed to eliminating language barriers for people facing legal problems who are not proficient English speakers. We offer telephonic interpretation services on demand in any language for lawyers to communicate with their clients. Last year, the Voiance phone line was used nearly 3,000 times, covering 59 different languages.
We also fund an online shared case management system, LegalServer, which allows organizations to seamlessly refer cases and measure progress. We provide conference call services and malpractice insurance. We provide funding for the Pro Bono Council Manager, who supports volunteer lawyer programs across the state.
New ideas? We are always eager to hear feedback on how we can better support civil legal aid providers. Contact our Grants Coordinator with your thoughts.
