David Martin is a Senior Deputy Prosecutor for the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (KCPAO). He serves as supervisor of the KCPAO Domestic Violence (DV) unit and co-manager of the Regional Domestic Violence Firearms Unit. Most of his 20-year career has been spent in the Domestic Violence Unit. He serves on several DV task forces and work groups, is co-chair of the national Association of Prosecuting Attorney’s Domestic Violence Committee, and former commissioner for the American Bar Association Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. David authored several of Washington’s new criminal DV laws including removal of the marital rape exception, stalking reform, batterer treatment, felony DV sentencing reform, strangulation, and repeat DV assault. David has served on the board of multiple community based domestic violence groups including New Beginnings and Lifewire. David is the recipient of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Outstanding Trial Advocacy award, Lifewire Norm Maleng award, Consejo Founder’s Award, and the Coalition Ending Gender Based Violence System Change award.
